Mist

oneword

Today's word is - mist

The mist envelopes the lowlands like a soft white blanket. Early morning is the best time to catch a glimpse of it, turning the familiar into an otherworldly realm

Today's topic: The boy looked up just in time to see the cigarette ash fall and the carpet go up in flames.

In fascination the boy watched the flames spread, first enveloping the small carpet beside the easy chair, then spreading outwards in all directions. The flames were coloured blue from the chemicals used to clean the carpet beneath the scatter rug.

"Grandpa! Grandpa! Wake up! The house is on fire!"

The flames shot outwards in all directions, licking up at the bottom of the old man's easy chair.

Grandpa was a hard sleeper. The boy couldn't reach past the flames to get to him. Wildly he looked around, then snatched up the heavy glass ashtray from the coffee table. It was almost too heavy for him to heft, but he raised it up and threw it with all his strength in the center of the flames. It landed with a thud in the center of the old man's chest
